遊園驚夢-給琵琶和弦樂四重奏

這首作品靈感取自湯顯祖的言情戲劇《牡丹亭》中的“遊園”、“驚夢”與“拾畫”三摺。生死之戀與命運之宿自古都是中國文人劇中的現實夢境。我有感於《牡丹亭》文筆之露骨直敘,作者原創之大膽無懼,
將封建制度下壓抑的情感與所產生的悲劇亮曬於光天化日之下,以此作品呼應現代人對於情感與制度的夢想追求和對湯氏之藝術敬崇。
全曲以6段唱詞與曲牌交錯貫串,以不同的曲調風格主導段落之音樂主題,
創造夢境與現實的糾纏虛實:夢回鶯囀…/沒亂裡春情難遣…/遍青山啼紅了杜鵑…/則為你如花美眷…/則見風月暗消磨…/原來姹紫嫣紅開遍…。在開頭的三更聲響展開音樂夢境,由驚(京)韻中帶出“遊園“的各式場景,最後以”潑殘生除問天”的餘韻中結束全曲。
This composition bases on several tunes of the Peking opera “nightmare
of a rendez-vous in garden”by Xian-Zu Tang from Ming dynasty. This opera
describes a young lady who encountered a handsome young man in a dream
and she fell in love with him in the reality. The endless yearning for
the young man from the dream caused her long illness and death lately.
The surrealistic story expresses the longing for love and the
desperation of the life.
I marvelled deeply at the idea of the author Tang who showed the shady
side of the old Chinese feudalistic society with literature. 6 texts and
tunes from the opera construct the whole composition for pipa and
string quartet, which begins at the night before her death. The
night-bell-sounds made by pipa and strings’pizzicato Flageolett
indicate the time process of sleepless night. Fragmental sounds of
diverse scenes from the dream in garden were combined simultaneously to
intense her longing and misery. The piece ends at the 5-time
night-bell-sounds, when the morning has broken and the young lady gave
her last breath.
